How the check works

  1. 1. Pick a style

11+ style covers verbal reasoning, non-verbal reasoning, maths and English. CAT4 style covers verbal, quantitative, non-verbal and spatial reasoning.

  2. 2. Answer ten questions

The same question cards children see in the app. No timer, no hints, and any question can be skipped.

  3. 3. See the score by area

Overall and for each area, with a plain-English note on what to work on next.

  4. 4. Review every answer

Each question again, with your child's pick, the right answer and a short explanation.

What each check covers

The areas match how the app reports progress: the four 11+-style papers, or the four CAT4-style batteries.

11+ style: 10 questions

  • Verbal reasoning. Word meanings, letter patterns and missing letters.
  • Non-verbal reasoning. Shape sequences and shape analogies.
  • Maths. A word problem, fractions of an amount and place value.
  • English. Spelling and grammar.

CAT4 style: 10 questions

  • Verbal reasoning. Word groups and word analogies.
  • Quantitative reasoning. Number series and number analogies.
  • Non-verbal reasoning. Odd shape out and shape grids.
  • Spatial reasoning. Paper folding and hidden shapes.

Frequently asked

Is this the real 11+ or CAT4 test?
No. The questions are 11+-style and CAT4-style, written for practice. Puzzitron is not affiliated with GL Assessment, CEM or any exam board, and a score here does not predict a real test result.
Do I need to sign up or give an email address?
No. The check works without an account and the result is shown straight away on the page. Afterwards you can choose to have the result emailed to you, but you don't have to.
What happens to my child's answers?
They stay in your browser. The check marks the answers on your device and sends nothing to us, so closing the page clears it. If you ask for the result by email, we keep your email address and the scores by area (not the questions or answers) to send it, and delete them after 30 days unless you also ticked the box for tips. Every email has a link to delete your details sooner. The page sets no cookies of its own and carries no advertising or tracking scripts; the only analytics on our public pages is a cookieless visit counter, which never sees answers.
What age is it for?
Children aged 7 to 11, roughly Year 3 to Year 6. The questions are at the easier end of what the app offers, so a younger child can have a go and an older one can finish in about ten minutes.
How should I read the score?
As a snapshot. Two or three questions per area is enough to spot where to start, not enough to give a standardised score. If an area comes back as worth practising, little and often over a few weeks does more than one long session.
What does the free account add?
Daily practice across every area, 20 questions a day, with difficulty that rises as your child improves and the same retro-arcade look. It is free to start and needs no card.
